Zebrafish: A Powerful Model for Cancer Research

In the quest to understand and combat cancer, researchers have turned to an unlikely ally: the zebrafish. This small, tropical fish, known scientifically as Danio rerio, has emerged as a vital model organism in cancer research. Zebrafish offer several unique advantages that make them an excellent model for studying cancer. This genetic similarity allows researchers to study human diseases in a simpler organism.
